Phomopsis Tip Blight

Phomopsis Tip Blight (Phomopsis juniperovora) - The fungus Phomopsis juniperovora causes phomopsis blight in eastern redcedar or other members of the Juniperus genus. The most evident symptoms are the tips of cedars browning, becoming withered, or dying back. A hand lens will oftentimes reveal black fruiting bodies on affected portions of a branch or stem. If untreated, the fungus will proceed to other parts of the canopy and eventually cause significant girdling.
