Carpenterworm (Prionoxystus%20robiniae) - The%20carpenterworm%20is%20widely%20distributed%20in%20the%20United%20States%20and%20southern%20Canada%20where%20it%20breeds%20in%20a%20variety%20of%20hardwoods.%20In%20Colorado%2C%20the%20insect%20is%20most%20common%20in%20shelterbelt%20settings%20in%20the%20eastern%20portion%20of%20the%20state.%20The%20adult%20is%20a%20large%2C%20stout-bodied%20moth%20with%20mottled%20forewings.%20The%20female%20is%20of%20lighter%20coloration%20than%20the%20male%20and%20has%20a%20wingspan%20of%20about%203%20inches.%20Full-grown%20larvae%20are%20greenish%20white%20with%20a%20shiny%2C%20dark%20brown%20head%2C%20approximately%202-3%20inches%20long%2C%20and%20they%20have%20very%20few%2C%20simple%20hairs%20on%20their%20surface.
