Variable%20Oakleaf%20Caterpillar (Heterocampa%20manteo) - The%20fully%20grown%20larva%20of%20this%20species%20is%20about%201-1%2F2%20in%20long%20and%20sparsely%20covered%20with%20short%20hairs.%20An%20individual%20larva%20may%20change%20color%20as%20feeding%20continues.%20The%20head%20varies%20in%20color%20from%20amber%20brown%20to%20yellow%20to%20green.%20Two%20lateral%2C%20curved%20bands%20adorn%20each%20side%20of%20the%20head.%20The%20overall%20body%20color%20may%20vary%20from%20pure%20green%20to%20yellow.%20A%20broad%20stripe%20which%20is%20highly%20variable%20in%20shape%20and%20size%20is%20often%20found%20on%20the%20back.%20The%20color%20of%20this%20stripe%20varies%20from%20light%20pink%20to%20dark%20red.%20The%20pupa%20is%20about%20%C2%BD%20in%20long%2C%20stout%2C%20dark%20reddish%20brown%2C%20and%20shiny.%20It%20has%20two%20small%20spines%20at%20the%20posterior%20tip.%20The%20moth%20has%20a%20wing%20expanse%20of%201-1%2F2%20to%201-3%2F4%20in.%20Each%20forewing%20may%20be%20light%20or%20dark%20ashy%20gray%20with%20three%20darker%2C%20wavy%2C%20and%20diffused%20lines%20and%20one%20inconspicuous%20black%20spot.%20The%20hindwings%20are%20light%20brown.
