Spring%20Cankerworm (Paleacrita%20vernata) - Adult%20moths%20are%20drab%20gray%2C%20delicate%20with%20green%20markings.%20Males%20have%20a%20wingspread%20of%20about%201%20inch%20while%20the%20females%20are%20wingless.%20Cankerworms%2C%20like%20other%20members%20of%20this%20family%2C%20often%20are%20called%20%E2%80%9Cinchworms%E2%80%9D%20because%20of%20the%20way%20they%20crawl.%20They%20arch%20their%20back%20into%20a%20loop%2C%20anchor%20the%20hind%20legs%20and%20extend%20the%20front%20to%20move%20ahead.%20The%20spring%20cankerworm%2C%20Paleacrata%20vernata%20%28Peck%29%2C%20has%20two%20pairs%20of%20prolegs%20on%20the%20abdomen%2C%20while%20the%20fall%20cankerworm%2C%20Alsophila%20pometaria%20%28Harris%29%2C%20has%20three%20pairs%20of%20abdominal%20prolegs.%20Larvae%20grow%20to%201%20inch%2C%20are%20variable%20in%20color%20and%20marked%20predominantly%20with%20green%2C%20brown%20and%20pale%20yellow%20longitudinal%20stripes.
