Lesser%20Peachtree%20Borer (Synanthedon%20pictipes) - Adults%20are%201%2F2%20inch%20long%20%2813%20mm%29%2C%20clear-winged%20moths%20that%20resemble%20wasps%20%28photo%20above%29.%20The%20wingspan%20is%206%2F10%20-%201%20inch%20%2815-26%20mm%29.%20Females%20are%20somewhat%20larger%20than%20males.%20Both%20sexes%20are%20metallic%20blue-black%20with%20pale-yellow%20bands%20on%20the%20second%20and%20fourth%20abdominal%20segments%20%28photo%29.%20Eggs%20are%20oval%2C%20cinnamon%20colored%20and%20less%20than%20one%20mm%20in%20size.%20Mature%20larvae%20%28left%20photo%20below%29%20are%203%2F4%20to%201%20inch%20%289-25%20mm%29%20long%2C%20with%20a%20yellowish-brown%20head%20and%20creamy%20white%20body.%20The%20pupal%20stage%20%28right%20photo%20below%29%20is%20light%20brown%20and%20about%201%2F2%20inch%20%2812-13%20mm%29%20in%20length.%20Cocoons%2C%20in%20which%20pupation%20occurs%2C%20are%20constructed%20of%20pieces%20of%20bark%20and%20frass%20%28larval%20excrement%29%20held%20together%20by%20silk.%20Initially%20yellowish-brown%20in%20color%2C%20cocoons%20become%20rust%20brown%20as%20they%20age.
