Eastern%20Tent%20Caterpillar (Malacosoma%20americanum) - Adult%20moths%20have%20a%20wingspan%20of%20approximately%201%C2%BD%20inches.%20They%20are%20reddish-brown%20and%20the%20forewings%20have%20two%0D%0Awhitish%20stripes%20extending%20diagonally%20across%20the%20wing.%20Mature%20larvae%20are%20approximately%202%20%C2%BC%20inches%20long%2C%20black%20with%0D%0Abrownish%20markings%2C%20and%20a%20narrow%20unbroken%20white%20stripe%0D%0Athe%20length%20of%20the%20back.%20Pupae%20are%20reddish-brown%20and%20in%20a%0D%0Acocoon%20of%20tough%20paper-like%20material%20surrounded%20by%20whitish%20silk.%20A%20powdery%20yellow%20substance%20is%20mixed%20with%20the%20silk.%0D%0AEggs%20are%20small%2C%20dark%20colored%2C%20and%20cemented%20in%20a%20mass%20of%20as%0D%0Amany%20as%20300%20encircling%20a%20twig.%20Each%20egg%20mass%20is%20covered%0D%0Awith%20a%20dark%20colored%20glue-like%20substance%20which%2C%20after%20hardening%2C%20looks%20like%20a%20varnish%20finish.
