Leafy%20Mistletoe (Phoradendron%20tomentosum) - American%20mistletoe%20%28genus%20Phoradendron%29%20is%20a%20persistent%2C%20evergreen%2C%20photosynthetic%20%28contains%20chlorophyll%29%2C%20seed-producing%20plant%20that%20is%20parasitic%20on%20certain%20woody%20plants%2C%20primarily%20hardwood%20or%20broadleaf%20trees.%20It%20is%20particularly%20conspicuous%20on%20hardwoods%20after%20leaf%20fall.%20The%20mistletoe%20derives%20water%20and%20mineral%20nutrients%20from%20the%20sap%20of%20its%20host%20plant.%20Because%20the%20leaves%20of%20the%20mistletoe%20plant%20contain%20chlorophyll%20%28green%20color%29%2C%20the%20plant%20can%20produce%20its%20own%20food%20through%20photosynthesis%20using%20water%20and%20minerals%20derived%20from%20the%20tree%20that%20supports%20it.%20The%20leaves%20are%20leathery%20and%20occur%20opposite%20each%20other%20on%20the%20mistletoe%20stem.
