Soil Compaction

Soil Compaction - Compaction refers to the reducition of pore space in the soil medium. Trees need ample pore space in the soil to be able to respirate (breathe) appropriately. When this space in the soil is closed up, the tree is not able to facilitate these necessary gas exchanges for various biological processes. This results in reduced growth, vigor, and increased suceptibility to insects and disease.
